Pro Tips: Shipping

• Think of the United States like a layer cake: the northern layer, the middle layer, and the southern layer. 

​

• With some exceptions, the safest and cheapest times to ship live animals via USPS Priority 4-day shipping are as follows: 

  • Northern layer: Late May through Late-September​

  • Middle Layer: Late April - June; Mid September - October

  • Southern Layer:  Early April - May; Late September - October

​

• With some exceptions, the safest times to ship live animals via Fed-Ex Overnight shipping are as follows: 

  • All layers: April -October

​

• PK Endlers has successfully shipped to all layers (regions) in the continental United States during April - October using both methods however - Fed-Ex is VERY EXPENSIVE. USPS Priority 4-day shipping is the preferred shipping method of PK Endlers. It is the most cost effective way to get live animals shipped, and very safe. USPS Flat Rate 4-day shipping may be the bigger cost saving choice in some cases. We offer both options.

• Try to plan your fish purchases around the best shipping months for your region, to save on shipping costs. PK Endlers checks the temperatures for your shipping week. We will eliminate heat packs/ice packs if shipping temperatures are optimal. PK Endlers makes the final determination on shipping day. S&H refunds are issued IF heat packs/ice packs are not used.

​

• A big concern during extreme temperatures is the extended exposure to these temperatures on delivery day. Sometimes, a package of fish will endure a whole day's travel in vehicles that are not heated nor air conditioned. The fish are stressed by this. PK Endlers recommends having your package held at your local Post office, to save your fish that extreme temperature travel stress.

• Finally - PK Endlers offers local pick-up all year round for our New England customers. Please arrive with you vehicle warmed up to sweater temperature; plan to keep the temperature steady until you can very quickly move your fish into your warm home. Remember, Endlers, Staecks and Guppies are tropical fish, and cannot tolerate extreme cold. You can tuck them into your jacket to keep them cozy while you walk to your home from your vehicle. ​

SHIPPING NOTES

• USPS Priority 4-Day Shipping for live fish/plants/inverts & USPS Medium Flat Rate Shipping available April - October.

• FedEx 2-Day Overnight Shipping and Local Pick-up (by appointment only) are available year 'round.

​

• ​PK Endlers ships non-US Holiday Mondays, with heat or ice packs (as appropriate for the season). 

  • PRO TIP: If you cannot be home at time of delivery

    • have someone else receive the package OR

    • call your local post office and have the package held there for pick up OR

    • have your package delivered to you at your workplace.

​

• ​​​Packages left out in the weather endanger the lives of the shipped fish/plants/inverts and VOID the PK Endlers LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE.​

• ​​​If your package is delivered late or damaged, please note you must contact THE SHIPPER for restitution. PK Endlers cannot guarantee the performance of another company (the shipper).

• PK Endlers highly recommends avoiding shipping live animals during the Holiday Season (November 1 - January 15) due to extended shipping times, temporary drivers not knowing routes, various shipping delays and potential package loss - and cold weather.
